After Marsha , the coordinator of the show, said yes to my request to participate in the show, we promised ourselves to do our best to represent Ooh La La. It was August when I contacted Marsha about participating and since then , Greg and I have been working on candles, either buying new antique tea cups or actually making candles. During the past 3 months we have been super busy, choosing the fragrances we would like to use for this time of the year. I wanted something Christmassy but also I wanted to have than just holiday scents. We decide to have a variety of floral fragrances that were natural, not overwhelming and light.
We packed the car on Thursday with all the candles and props ready for the Friday. We got there on Friday and set up pretty quickly. The show was for 3 hours and it was a little slow for us, but other exhibitors did great. As this was our first time to this show we did not know other exhibitors, which apparently they knew each other from years ago as they were participating each year. But it was fun talking to them. Greg and I met a self described Gypsy who was originally from Bosnia Herzegovina and after he discovered where I came from we bonded immediately, talking about history, our tradition our roots. He was in the show with his wife who made jewelry. There was also a French exhibitor as well selling beautiful handmade glasses with his wife. We had a great time talking to him to.
Saturday came and I was afraid about how many people would show up as it was poring rain so bad, but I was totally surprised to see how many people came in and we did very well. Thank you to you all who stopped by.
I was overwhelmed, surprised, happy, and emotionally touched to see people react. People really loved what Greg and I made and often commented how beautiful our display was. Many of them were struggling to decide what to buy. I wasn't much help because I loved everything there. Honestly many of my most beautiful pieces were sold and I am sure they went to beautiful homes with families that will take care of them as much as I did. These are some of the pictures we took.
And here are some pictures from the church
I was totally surprised and caught off guard to see my Colombia GI doctor who took care of me,at the show. He was also surprised to see me there too. We had a nice talk, he bought one of my teacups candles and we said goodbye. The same day I saw another doctor I work with at Albert Einstein, I did not expect to see her at the show. She is really funny and we had a great laugh.
Overall I met many beautiful people, some of them customers interested in buying my candles and some of them staff and other vendors working that day.
Today Greg and I picked the winner of the raffle. The winner is is Alison L. Enjoy Alison and thank you for stopping by our little but wonderful booth
